Real Madrid started in a 4-3-3 formation, with a front three of Vinicius Jr, Benzema, and Asensio.

PSG used three substitutions in the game as they were trying to get back their lead in the tie.

Real Madrid generated a very high xG of 3.31 with their 21 attempts on the opposition’s goal. Although PSG dominated possession of the ball, it was Real Madrid, who were more effective in the final third and capitalized on the chances they created.

Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick for the Los Blancos and generated the highest xG with his seven shots on goal. Luka Modric put up an impressive performance, and he made 11 passes into the final third.

Real Madrid had 21 shots on goal and managed to keep seven on target. They had a total xG of 3.31 and had 11 shots from inside the penalty area.

PSG attempted 10 shots on goal and managed to keep five on target. They had a total xG of 1.09, and most of their shots were from the left flank.

The xG timeline indicates that it was a very close game as both sides came close to scoring in the initial stages of the game. PSG took the lead in the first half, but Real switched up a gear and put three goals past the PSG defense.

Luka Modric bossed the midfield throughout the game and attempted the most passes for his team.

Marco Verratti attempted the most passes for PSG, and he made most passes to Leo Messi and Neymar.

Real Madrid attempted most of their passes from the left flank and had a total of 15 passes in the final third. Luka Modric attempted five smart passes and played four balls into the opposition’s 18-yard box.PSG did have more possession of the ball in the middle third, but the Parisians were not able to play the perfect pass in the final third. Vinicius Jr. generated the highest overall xT for Madrid as he had a very high xT from his passes as well as the dribbles he attempted.

PSG had very high xT creation zones in the final third and were more threatening from the left flank where Kylian Mbappe was playing. Mbappe made some great runs on the left flank and got into threatening positions.

PSG’s front three did generate a high xT from their passes as well as the dribbles they attempted, but they failed to find the desired outcome in the second half.

Eder Militao attempted the most number of defensive duels in the defensive third. He won four of the 13 duels he competed for.

Militao also won all of his aerial duels and was able to deal with any of the long balls played by the PSG players.

Real Madrid had the majority of their loose ball duels in the final third, and they forced the PSG players to make mistakes and scored two goals from such situations. Achraf Hakimi attempted the most number of defensive duels for PSG. He won four of the 15 duels he competed for.

PSG won half of the eight aerial duels they attempted. Marquinhos, Hakimi, and Mbappe each won one aerial duel.

PSG managed to win 57.1% of their total loose ball duels and were able to recover most of the loose balls.

Luka Modric generated the highest xT from set-pieces for Real Madrid. He attempted two corners and five free-kicks while generating an xT of 0.49.

PSG played both their corners short and were not able to generate an xT from them. However, they put two free-kicks into the box and had an xT of 0.29 from free-kicks.
