The Real Madrid way is simple: entertain us and win. We don’t care how you want to do it, who you have to buy or how many you need to purchase. Hence the Galactico signings who are already world-beaters. For this reason, it is hard to see young players come through and succeed at Real Madrid.
“My goal is to succeed at Real Madrid, but I’m happy at La Real for now,” Odegaard told El Larguero h/t by Marca.“I don’t care if I have to wait two or five years to play for Real Madrid.“I want to win LaLiga with Real Madrid.”
Arguably this season, he has been one of the best players in La Liga while on loan at Real Sociedad. The Norway international is showing that he possesses the quality to play at the highest level of club football with his performances, already tallying two goals and three assists under his belt. While this will surely catch the eye of Zinedine Zidane, the problem is Real’s propensity to sign more established/world-class players, as we’ve seen in some of their most recent purchases of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.
Already, this is his third loan spell at the club since arriving at Real as a 16-year-old and many believed that after his last spell with Vitesse, he would finally get a chance with the first team but he was shipped to Real Sociedad instead.
Odegaard’s absence from the first team also reduces his chances of making it because he does not have the chance of directly impressing the coach in training or take advantage of injuries to show himself in the first team. Federico Valverde has taken the chances he has been given this season because his presence in the first team put him in that position – with Rodrygo being another perfect example.
Already, Real Madrid have transfer targets that play in the same position lined up for the summer with the likes of Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen the likely candidates to become the next Galactico acquisitions.
With Luka Modric seemingly reaching the end of his Real Madrid career, one of these two players will be expected to come in and fill the void that the Croatian will leave behind and this will push Odegaard further out of the real Madrid picture.
Apart from a new galactico signing coming through, the likes of James Rodriguez, Isco, Marco Asensio and Toni Kroos remain players of the high quality in the team. Patience might be a virtue but it might not suit Odegaard in this situation.
Odegaard might be one of the most talented players in the world for his age but his chance at Real may never come and he might regret waiting. Already he is playing regular first-team football which good for him at his age but so is Dani Ceballos, a player whose talent is undeniable. He is at Arsenal and like Odegaard is no closer to being a first-team name at Real Madrid despite all of his talents, as he already has two assists on his loan spell at Arsenal.
